Crushed Dreams

Well basically yesterday my dad straight up told me that we're definitely going to Paris this summer. It pretty much crushed my childhood dreams of going there for my 16th birthday during the summer. Well my mom told me a few weeks ago, that we may not go because my dad has already been there, but yesterday I'm pretty sure it's true. We are still going on a trip, and I am VERY grateful for the opportunity, but I don't really want to go to Turkey or Hawaii (my dad wants to go to Turkey and my mom wants to go to Hawaii) but I don't want to go to somewhere in the States again (I've never been outside the U.S. or Canada before) and we're still not sure where we're going this summer.
When I was little I wanted to be a princess when I grew up. No joke! I thought that Paris was this magical world with castles and where dreams come true! I love it now because of the art, the lights, the architecture and the fashion. My dad said straight up, "Well we're not going there for sure because I've already been there, and if we do go to France, it'd be in the wintertime [obviously for skiing] and we wouldn't go to Paris." I guess that was a reality check for me. I know it's insanely expensive and maybe I was caught up to much of actually going there, but I guess I should be realistic. And my dad also said, "You can go there with your own money when your older with your friends." Great. My desktop background hasn't even change for 4 years! It's Paris at nighttime showing the Arc de Triomphe. I've been dreaming of macaroons from Ladurée, the paintings at the Louvre, walking through the streets at night, standing by the Eiffel Tower, window shopping at the designer boutiques...

Well at least we're going somewhere for a little bit instead of sleeping and walking and sweating in the the City's hot sun. But my mom bought me Benefit's PosieTint! I've been wanting if for a while (this lady put some on my when I got my eyebrows done at the Benefit brow bar last summer). I'll post pictures later today. Now I'm finishing my report and PowerPoint about the Make-A-Wish foundation and re-reading Romeo and Juliet and To Kill a Mockingbird for my exam on Wednesday.

Le français est très stupide.

Well it is right now. WARNING: No pictures and expressing current thoughts non-related to fashion ahead. I have my in-class exam tomorrow which consists of a passage à vu and a composition of 80+ words I have to create. I think the composition is What did you do over the holiday.winter break because I know that it has to be written in passé composé or l'imparfait (past tense). Last year it was What are you going to do this summer, so we wrote in future tense. So now I'm reviewing all my French notes and sheets and looking over the sheet of passé composé vs. l'imparfait which for the fill in the blanks of given l'infinitif, I suck at. If anyone ever needs help deciding what to use I am posting it now (and also so it can help me study!)

I'm going to use the verb sentir - to feel
Passé Composé Meanings
1. I felt
2. I have felt
3. Did I feel?

l'Imparfait Meanings
1. I felt
2. I was feeling
3. I used to feel

When debating what to use (hard to really explain what I'm talking about).

Les Règles

P.C.
1. Action Complétée
ex. Elle a dit.
2. Temps spécifique
ex. Heir...
3. Interruption
ex. Marie est arrivée and la classe, . . . (then the action en progrès)

Imp.
1. Description
ex. cheveux, temps, little person
2. Action habituelle
ex. chaque...semaine(every week)
3. Action en Progrès
ex. Madame faisait sont travail
4. Peppacaves:
-Pouvoir
(can/to be able to)
-être
(to be)
-pendant que (while)
-penser (to think)
-avoir (to have)
-croire (to believe)
-aimer (to like)
-vouloir (to want)
-espérer (to hope)
-savoir (to know)

Sorry that this was probably boring and you may have NO IDEA what I was just talking about, but it was to help me study too and who knows that maybe one day you'll be thanking me! And my mom just got home from work and got me this empty Lanvin jewlry holder box and these Valentines paper fortune cookie cards for Valentine's Day! I'll post pictures soon! Wish me luck tomorrow!

Wilde for Olivia

I always watch all these fashion report shows such as Cojo on ET, Fashion Police on E!, E! News, ETalk, etc. House's Olivia Wilde wasn't really even mentioned on best dressed! Only on Fashion Police, but they said that her hair should have been in a ponytail and that her heels should have been silver instead. She was my best dressed choice there. I mean, what girl doesn't want to wear a sparkling ballgown! The gorgeous chocolate brown ombre with sparkles was breathtaking and that dress was fit for a princess!

I loved how she showed off her heels!

Belle of the Ball

The Golden Globes were yesterday! My favourite part? The fashion of course! I've been watching the GG for the past 3 years (or more!) I've been watching the fashion feedback all afternoon and people didn't like Natalie Portman's Victor & Rolf dress! I don't know why because I LOVED it! Plus she won best actress in a motion picture - drama and that French twist was stunning! It reminded me of Sleeping Beauty and she showed off her glowing baby bump! I also loved Olivia Wilde's dazzling ballgown with those amazing yellow-gold Christian Louboutin heels! But honestly Natalie could be Sleeping Beauty! Tim Burton was rumored to do a re-make of Sleeping Beauty and supposedly wanted Angelina Jolie to play the evil queen. I think that his wife, Helena Bonham Carter should be Merriweather, the blue/third fairy and Johnny Depp should be King Stefan.

That gorgeous red rose against the pink and that lovely necklace

French twist. Classic.

All that Glitters

I've been stressing so much for the past week and I'm very happy that my English presentation is over. Although, this upcoming week I have a large business and civics project/assignment/presentation due and a French in-class exam. My actual exams are the following week (27th - English, 29th - Business, 1st - French). So the only thing that can keep me alive during these hard times are retail therapy. Yesterday I went downtown and read all the magazines and walked around. I bought this book called Shoo, Jimmy Choo! and a bottle of OPI nail polish in Teenage Dream (designed by Katy Perry). Great trend for 2011 - sparkly nail polish. I think that nail polish is the ultimate accessory and this sparkle reminds me of my first bottle when I was 6! It was light sparkly pink with glitter and silver stars. The bottle cap was in the shape of a pink princess crown! I think that this shade is more mature and still youthful at the same time. Please excuse the shortness of my nails - they broke and don't look as nice as they usually do.

Katy Perry's Teenage Dream for O.P.I. (sparkly pink)

I think the statement says "New Year, New Start." And plus sparkly nail polish brightens up your day - especially when you're stressing about school.

Stress Mess

I'm stressed. Now that winter break is over, I have 3 exams in two weeks and an English culminating assignment (non-fiction book talk worth 10%), French test, and civics test (the subject that I find insanely boring) all due Monday (HELP!) Plus have Business culminating (not due yet) and 3 exams: English, French, Business coming up. I don't think I'll be able to leave the house this weekend or be able to watch movies or flip through magazines. So, I'm pretty tired - I got up at 9 and usually get up at 11-11:30 on Saturdays and I get time to relax. I quickly made tea and Nutella and peanut butter toast while listening to the radio and For about an hour have been translating French words from this stupid book into English, finishing my script/write-up for my book talk, and finding my future wedding shoes (at lunch on Wednesday, my friends and I were talking about Vera Wang, Reem Acra and Monique Lhuillier wedding dresses and how insanely expensive and beautiful they are). Anyways, I did manage find my wedding shoes!

I'm just dreaming! And year tired right now. Sorry no pictures...that takes quite a while to upload and time to take pictures of my homework. Wish me weekend luck!

On my mind

Happy New Year's! 2011! I can't believe it! So for this blog, I've finally got my pictures uploaded and wanted to share to you what's on my mind before school starts tomorrow and all I'll be thinking about is culminatings and exams (French, English, Business, and Civics). So here they are:

1. Christmas. Yes, I'm still thinking about Christmas. And I wanted to upload some pictures (the Marc by Marc boots will be posted soon along with the fair isle cardigan!)

Merry Christmas ♥

2. New Year's. I went to my friend's house with some other friends for a sleepover. We watched Easy A and She's Out of My League. And watched Dick Clark's special and drank de-alcoholized Rose (which I though tasted gross so I took one tiny sip and got the Pepsi). My friend's dad gave it for us, but we hardly drank any and all of our glasses were still full the next morning.

See how it says 0.3% alc. We were joking about getting drunk off that!

3. Winter wear. Clothes that I wear outside walking to school. Usually camel or black beret or fur trapper hat and my Canada Goose long black jacket with my pink scarf from H&M with the polka dots or usually my pink Burberry scarf. And now I get to say my new sheepskin mittens from Holt Renfrew.

School's tomorrow, so I better go get some beauty rest! Oh and my outfit for tomorrow is: blue pinstriped ruffled button down from H&M, jeggings from Stitches, braided pearl headband from Forever21, silver Tiffany & Co. bow pendant, Links of London charm bracelet, Marc by Marc Jacobs short buckled rubber boots. Hope my first day back won't be so bad!
